The Broken Bow

| Well....Time for Three is rockin more than ever!
When we get on stage there is this wonderful camaraderie that is so intense. It is like we envision ourselves connecting musically 100% of
the time. I love it!!!
So... we only had 2 concerts this last tour, one in Athens, GA and the other in Aiken, SC. I would like to start off by thanking Ryan and all the staff in Aiken and Athens for their terrific work! Aiken was a great concert and a wonderful audience.Time for Three had a blast performing there.
Athens was actually recorded for NPR. We were stokedabout this and looking forward on giving a rockin show. The first half was killer, and the second half was... a bit unusual.
We have been playing this new tune that I composed called Ecuador. It is a HIGH Energy piece, and staying true to TF3 style, full
of new, crazy, creative sound effects.
I specifically have this one part in the piece where I whack the bow against the strings in order to get a heavy metal, percussive quality out of my bass.
Up until this concert my bow always made it out of this section unhurt, but... during this show my newly, expensively acquired antique Morizot French double bass bow snapped in half.
AHHHHH......!
After the initial shock to the audience, Nick, Zach and me, I pardoned myself from the stage, went and got my second bow, came back on stage, made a few jokes, and then we continued on with the concert.
I tell you, although this moment was unbelievably scary, I would not trade it back for anything in the world. A priceless anecdote to be told for years to come.
I love music, I love people, and I love the combination of the two. |
