Wow. Our very first “From the Road” blog! How totally exciting! This is Nick by the way. I’m typing to you on my MacBook in the back seat of our conversion van after relinquishing my spot on the bed to Zach. Yup! You heard me. I did say BED! In our conversion van! That’s how we roll! It’s no tour bus as far as space goes, but it’s like a limo in here. Super comfy!!
Anyway, we are driving today from Muskegon, Michigan, in the western region of the state, to Bryan, Ohio. Not a bad drive. It will probably take us about 4 hours, barring bathroom breaks and snack stops which we are known to make. It’s better than some of the drives we’ve made since we started this tour in October. Some of our trips have covered at least 400, even 800 miles of driving. Crazy huh? It’s been a real road trip for us. And I really mean it when I say Road Trip! We have over 100 dates across the country this year and most of them have been routed geographically. So literally, we have driven throughout most of the country. It’s really exciting! Totally daunting at the same time, but undeniably the greatest way to see our country. Personally, from living most of my life in the Northeast, I really liked driving through the desert parts of Texas. People laugh when I say that. Texans probably think I’m mocking them. But it’s really true. I love it there! I mean I probably wouldn’t want to live in the desert, but what land! You have to respect it. So powerful in the terrain’s simplicity. We had a lot of dates in Texas near the beginning of our tour so we did much driving. But it was worth it. Totally inspiring! Anyway, I digress! So yesterday, we had a great day in Muskegon. We got up early to do a show for a local middle school and high school during their morning classes. We loaded into the theater and found out that Tf3 was going to be the first performers in their new hall. That was cool. I couldn’t help think how lucky these kids were to have such amazing facilities. And brand spanking new! In a small town, to have a state-of-the-art performance venue, in a school no less, is a rare thing. They even had a high school student-run TV station tape our show. A big operation with multiple cameras and a student director in the booth. Very sophisticated! The hall that we performed in last night, the Frauenthal Theater, was a different venue from our earlier show, but was incredible! Both aesthetically and in its sound. The crew was great to work with, and did a fabulous job lighting us and mixing the show. It all resulted in a great performance to a capacity audience. It's fun playing great venues like that. We get so inspired and everything becomes so
easy. Many thank you’s to everyone at the Frauenthal Theater for making our visit there so memorable. We’d love to come back! I’m going to sign off now because we're rolling up to our hotel. Perfect timing! I’ll write more as the days go by. Until soon……
